We went to the Art and Wine Faire on Park St. last Saturday, then we hit the Gilroy Garlic Festival last Sunday.

We had fun in both festivals but it seemed too hot to be out there in the sun.  Too hot that I was beat before the day ended in Gilroy.  And too beat I snapped at hubby in argument over a supposedly delightful strawberry and sugar-laced funnel cake.  The food’s great as always. We all came home with garlic-induced gassy guts.

Hubby and I decided that it’s probably gonna be a while before we go back.  Perhaps a few years. We’ve been going there for three years in a row anyway (him even longer). We just need to hunt for the garlicky treats elsewhere because I’m sure I’m going to miss those really dope juicy crawdads and ”my” garlic ice cream.

*SIGH* If only these festivals weren’t too UV-laced.

My stepdaughter will finally get to spend a long time with us this summer.  She’s arriving tomorrow.  I’m ready. I washed the sheets.  I did the grocery (she’s low maintenance – feasts on bagels and captain crunch!).  She turns into a gourmet at night though. So I’m looking forward to making better dinners…and going out with hubby and her as a family.  We’re definitely going to the salon for maybe some manicure and pedicure, and a little hairstylin’.

The only thing that takes a lot from me is having those little fun parties and activities with her cousins.  We really make it a point to gather them when she’s around.  That way, they can make a lot of great growing up memories together, and hopefully so they can grow old close.  So even if I’m tired (and broke), it’s all worth it. It’s a chance for me to go places too! My inner child is hungry for experience…adventure…and play!

This summer, we hope to visit these places:

Alcatraz

Santa Cruz Mystery Spot

Winchester Mystery House

Garlic Gilroy Festival

among other things….got any more suggestions? Be kind to THE wallet!
